Social Security It is important that the retired have funds to live on. They have contributed much to society and they deserve to receive the money they put into the Social Security program. Therefore, the government will take the money each individual has taken out of their paychecks and put them into personal accounts from which the money can be invested or just left to sit and collect interest.
